Theme: Construction/Shapes/China
It's summer time and almost the end of the school year, let's start with our CONSTRUCTION THEME and enjoy building and working with noisy trucks.
Theme Activities
Here is a busy working construction site. Do you see the safety cones and safety signs along the street? Drive carefully on the road!
Oh, here comes a ladder truck. Where do you think it may go?
These construction vehicles have different functions: the excavator can dig, the cement truck has a drum that can spin, the dump truck has a raised bed that can move up and down, the crane can turn 360 degrees to lift objects to reach their destination......
Can construction be done without road safety signs? They are also important because they help people follow the rules of the road to keep drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians safe.

Oh, it's "Road closed".
I'm busy working at the construction zone.
I'm building a city with Legos and dice. Look how many floors I built.
I'm building letters with rocks.
Did you know, building with Popsicle sticks, wooden clips and cubes is a fun work too.
We are all little builders. What do you like to build?
I built a small table, I can invite my friends over for a tea party after I'm done.
And for the finishing touches, i would like to paint it with some beautiful colors.
What shapes can we build? We can find shapes everwhere.
What shapes do you see in a chair? A table? A Tray? What about a house?
You might be very curious about what I will create with this colorful foam cube.
To start, I traced my favorite shape. Then, I hammered a few golf tees on it.
Next, I started to wrap the yarn around the tees.

The plants have grown so fast and big!
They need trellis to support their growth.
Look at the avocado seed we planted months ago. Now it has grown into a small plant!

Culture
The traditional Chinese Fan Dance represents beauty, grace and delicacy, it also expresses feelings of joy. The dance is composed of consistently changing rhythms paired with consistency changing body positions.
Now, we all look like beautiful peacock.
Let's learn Chinese Kung Fu to make ourselves stronger.
This is Chinese bamboo slip/竹简, before the spread of papermaking, it was the main media for writing documents in China.
It's not easy to make a bamboo slip.
First, i need to measure and draw a line for knitting later on.
I carefully wrap the string around the sticks and tie the string securely to the last stick. It really needs a lot of concentration and patience. Finally, I learn how to tie a knot!
This is an amazing book!
Now I can start to write something on.
This type of book is the reason that Chinese writing is done from top to bottom, rather than from left to right like Western writing. The books were rolled up and easily for storage.
I'm so proud of myself!
The Dragon Boat Festival/端午节 is coming soon. It is a day to commemorate the patriotic poet, Qu Yuan屈原.
It is said that the local people, who admired him, raced out in their boats to save him, or at least retrieve his body. This is said to have been the origin of dragon boat races/赛龙舟.
When his body could not be found, they dropped balls of sticky rice into the river so that the fish would eat them instead of Qu Yuan's body. This is said to be the origin of zongzi/粽子.
It's fun to learn to make zongzi/粽子. a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves.
Now I need to add some sticky rice and meat.
After i filled with rice I carefully wrap with leaves and tightly tie it up!
Hooray, finally I made one!
On this day, people will celebrate with dragon boat races/赛龙舟.
Would you like to make a paper dragon boat following my steps?
Let's fold the square paper into half then fold the four corners right next to the line.
Now let's decorate the boat with painting dots on it as dragon's scales.
I'm coloring the dragon's head and tail.
I glued the head and tail on and hold it tightly until it gets try.
Last, let's punch three holes on both sides for the paddles.
All done!

Graduation Day
It's the end of school year, graduation is here!
Congratulations to our four graduates!
Graduating students give us a speech and so do their parents.
On this last day of the 2018-2019 school year, we just want to say a big thank you to all our teachers, parents and friends who taught, worked with, and played with us.
You will move into your respective future endeavors and we wish you all the best in your life!
